I have a dog. His name is JUGEM.
I named him after an old Japanese folktale. This is a story about the longest name in Japan. It's a ridiculously long name.
Long time ago, there were a young couple. They had a new born baby, but they couldn't come up with a good name for him. So his father went to a temple and asked a monk to give him a lucky name.
The monk suggested many good names; "Jugemu (means an endless life)" "Gokonosurikire (means everlasting time)" "Kaijarisuigyo-no Suigyomatsu (means countless, never-ending)" and so on. But the father couldn't choose one so he used all the names that was given to him for his baby.
Jugemu-jugemu
Gokonosurikire
Kaijarisuigyo-no Suigyomatsu
Unraimatsu Furaimatsu
Kunerutokoroni-sumutokoro
Yaburakojino-burakoji
Paipopaipo-paiponoshuringan
Shuringanno-gurindai
Gurindaino-ponpokopino-ponpokonano
Chokyumeino-chosuke
The baby had grown up well. One day, when he was playing with his friends, he fell into a pond. Jugem's friend run to his parents for help. He said: "Hey! your Jugemu-Jugemu Gokonosurikire...(his entire name)...fell into a pond!!"
The parents said, "Oh my gosh! Our Jugemu-Jugemu Gokonosurikire...(his entire name)...fell into a pond???"
The friend said, "Yes. The pond which Jugemu-Jugemu Gokonosurikire...(his entire name)...fell into is this way!!"
When his parents arrived at the pond, Jugem already sank under the water. They couldn't save their son who had many lucky names and because of his lucky name he got into a very unlucky situation that cost him his life.
This is the whole story of Jugem. I don't want my dog to sink into a pond and end up the same fate as him so I only name him Jugem.
