ミランダ警告

アメリカの映画やドラマを見る人なら、一度は聞いたことがあるはずの逮捕シーンでの「君には黙秘権がある・・・」というアレ。ミランダ警告って名前がついてるのを先日知った。
そう言えば、英語でなんて言ってるんだろうと気になったので調べてみた。

You have the right to remain silent.（あなたには黙秘権がある。）
Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. （供述は、法廷であなたに不利な証拠として用いられる事がある。）
You have the right to have an attorney present during questioning.（あなたは弁護士の立会いを求める権利がある。）
If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you.（もし自分で弁護士に依頼する経済力がなければ、公選弁護人を付けてもらう権利がある。）

"remain silent" 「黙っている」とか　"against you" 「あなたに反する/不利な」って言い回し使えそう。 "have an attorney present" は使役。　

弁護士って言うと真っ先に　"lawyer" が出てくるけど、 "attorney" との違いを調べてみる。

言われる機会も、まして言う機会もないだろうけど、かっこつけて練習したくなる。
映画やドラマだと一部分しか聞こえないのがほどんどだから、全部を読み上げてる映像か音声はないかなーと思って探してみたけど、内容についての解説の動画しか見つからなかった。
今度先生に頼んで読んでもらおうかな。それっぽくｗ
